Tadalafil Instructions

For individuals suffering from erectile dysfunction, understanding how to properly take the medication is important to receive the maximum benefits. The instructions below provide an overview of what you need to know if you are taking tadalafil.

Dosage & Storage Information

Tadalafil can be used in two ways. Some patients choose to take tadalafil daily. These individuals can take a dose of 2.5 or 5 milligrams; most physicians begin with the lower dosage and increase the dosage as needed. The as-needed version of tadalafil contains 10 milligrams of the drug. The prescription should be stored away from temperature extremes, preferably at room temperature.

How to Take Tadalafil

The instructions on how to take tadalafil vary depending on the method and dosage prescribed by your physician. If you are taking daily tadalafil, you need to take your medication at approximately the same time every day but never more than one dose within any 24 hour period. Because of the way the medication works, as long as you are taking your daily dosage, you can achieve an erection from sexual stimulation at any time.

If you are taking the as-needed form of tadalafil, keep in mind that the drug may take as much as 30 minutes to work. However, you don’t have to wait until right before engaging in intercourse to use the medication. Tadalafil will work for up to 36 hours.

Side Effects of Tadalafil

Most of the side effects commonly associated with the use of tadalafil are mild, such as back pain, headaches, abdominal distress, muscle pain, and nasal congestion. Some users have also noticed a decreased ability to differentiate between green and blue.

Less common side effects and risks include the possibility of priapism, a condition that could be serious in which you achieve an erection that lasts for more than four hours. Some patients have also reported more serious hearing and vision problems, but these complications could also stem from other health conditions and not necessarily their use of tadalfil. More research needs to be conducted to determine the specific connection, if any.

Other Drug Information

Tadalafil is not a safe option for everyone suffering from erectile dysfunction. If you have a heart condition that requires you to take nitrates, you should not use any drug that includes this active ingredient. If you have a history of heart problems, you should talk to your doctor before you begin taking tadalafil to make sure you are healthy enough for sex.
